Our Wilderness Auckland Sales Centre will be closed from Thursday 10 March to Sunday 13 March whilst our motorhomes are on display at the Covi Motorhome, Caravan and Outdoor SuperShow.

The pun is irresistible but there are plenty of other reasons to call John and Norma one of our very ‘Keen’ camping couples. The Keens embraced caravanning while living in Australia. After more than a decade over the ditch, bought their own caravan to make a farewell circumnavigation tour, including Tasmania, before returning home to New Zealand. 

The smell of German sausages and the taste of German beer greeted visitors to our Oktoberfest Open Day on Saturday 17 October. Our Auckland Sales Centre was bustling with people who came to view the most extensive range of European motorhomes in New Zealand. With 15 models on display including the new range of German made Carado motorhomes, visitors had the opportunity to see German design and innovation right here in Auckland.

After looking at plenty of motorhome options we finally settled on the Bürstner Ixeo Time IT586. We're stoked with the decision and look forward to plenty of awesome road trips. We can't say enough about the service from Wilderness Motorhomes and the team so far - it has been great. After some christening drinks back in Tairua, we spent the next few days getting our baby ready for its first road trip. Then it was road trip time!

A trip to Motorhome Mecca would not be complete without a stop at the Erwin Hymer Museum to check out the more than 80 exhibits that tell the story of the history of motorhoming in Europe.

When I travelled to Southern Germany last month, I had a full itinerary planned and excitement was high. Having already seen what Bürstner has in store for 2016, we were anxious to meet the Carado team since we had only recently secured the rights to exclusively distribute the brand in New Zealand.

Not only is Germany the home of our partner, motorhome manufacturer Bürstner, but it's undoubtedly the centre of motorhome manufacturing in Europe. In fact, five of the six biggest motorhome manufacturers are headquartered within a few hundred kilometres of Bavaria, Southern Germany.

Following the success of our inaugural event last year, the SmartRV team is excited to announce our 2015 Oktoberfest Open Day at our Auckland sales centre on Saturday 17 October from 9am to 4pm. This year’s event has been expanded to a full day giving guests ample opportunity to come and join the German festivities.

That is the low down from NZ Motorhome, Caravans and Destinations reviewer Bill Savidan, who test drove the latest addition to the Bürstner family, the Viseo i690G recently.

Bruce and Tina Higgs don't have your typical story of being long time motorhomers - they are relatively late entrants. In 2007 a chance visit to a motorhome sales yard and a look over a Bürstner T585 changed their minds. Based on a Fiat Ducato cab chassis, the B class motorhome had a dinette behind the passenger seat and a small kitchen behind the driver's seat.
